Privacy Policy

As one whose inbox regularly fills up with junk, I abhor spam. It is my policy to never sell a reader’s information, nor give it away for others to use. When I collect e-mails for my newsletter, I do so abiding to the laws in Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation, and one can unsubscribe from my mailing list at any time through any e-mail I send.

That being said, there are a few things that I use to run my website and get an idea of who’s paying me a visit. Google Analytics is used to see who is, demographically speaking, paying me a visit; Akismet is used to filter potential spam from comments; and I ask for people to sign-up for my newsletter using Aweber’s forms.

Website Visitors

Like most website operators, kgorman.ca collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. My purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how kgorman.ca’s visitors use its website.

Kgorman.ca also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on WordPress.com blogs. Kgorman.ca only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that blog commenter IP addresses and email addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog where the comment was left.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Certain visitors to this website choose to interact with this website in ways that require this website to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that this website gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, when visitors comment on posts, we ask that they enter their e-mail address. In each case, this website collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with this website. This website does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

Kgorman.ca has one employee. She will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone.
